URBAN Philadelphia – community conversation about public education in our city

The recent election and subsequent cabinet level nominations, especially in education, are cause for alarm on many levels. As members of URBAN Philadelphia, we want to provide the space for educators, parents, and concerned residents to engage in conversation about how we can collectively address the challenges that are in store for public education in our city. 1- Updates from participating organizations (current campaigns/initiatives, how other groups could support them).
NOTE: This is NOT a time for academics to talk about their work. Instead, all groups present will be asked to submit updates on any current campaigns or initiatives, including any requests they may have for other groups/convening attendees, one week prior to convening; these updates will be compiled and disseminated a few days before the convening, so that the updates can be read and digested before our time together)

2- Learning from and connecting with other groups and URBAN chapters focused on public education in other areas.

3- Working Groups (op-eds, national/local day of action, working with policymakers and more)

4- Reporting back, Next steps, and Closing
