Bechtel, Jr. Foundation and focuses on the domain of public participation in scientific research (PPSR) as a tool to promote science learning, environmental stewardship, and civic engagement.  This is a two-year position ending June 30, 2017 and contracted on a yearly basis.  The start date is before the beginning of the fall quarter (September 21, 2015).  An August start date is preferable.

Gittell Visiting Professorship/ Post-doctoral Fellowship, established in honor of the late Political Science Professor at the CUNY Graduate Center, is for a social science Ph.D. working on areas that concerned Marilyn Gittell, especially research focused on cities, urban politics, public policy, democratic and civic engagement, social movements, citizenship and governance, and community practices, both domestically and abroad. This is a 1-year fellowship, with the potential for one 1-year renewal.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in hand by August 2016, in Anthropology, History, Political Science, Sociology, Urban Studies, or a related field.

The goal of the Gittell postdoctoral fellowship program is to prepare researchers committed to understanding and addressing critical issues in community-engaged research, especially in urban settings. The Visiting Professor will be expected to help administer seminars and activities sponsored by the Marilyn J. Gittell Chair in Urban Studies.

The search committee will begin reviewing applications on January 15th, 2016.

Glass, CCREC PI/Director and Professor of Philosophy of Education. The Postdoctoral Scholar will assist in the development of a casebook on the ethical issues in collaborative community-based research, in the preparation policy briefs in relation to the codes of ethics of professional associations of researchers (such as the American Anthropological Association, American Educational Research Association, and American Sociological Association), in the organization of an invitational conference on the ethical issues in collaborative community-based research, and participate in CCREC seminars, colloquia, and training projects as related to the Spencer Foundation funded work.
