{"id":2454,"date":"2014-07-18T17:17:01","date_gmt":"2014-07-18T17:17:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/urbanresearchnetwork.org\/?p=2454"},"modified":"2024-02-08T01:07:17","modified_gmt":"2024-02-08T01:07:17","slug":"2014-lynton-colloquium-on-the-scholarship-of-engagement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/urbanresearchnetwork.org\/2014-lynton-colloquium-on-the-scholarship-of-engagement\/","title":{"rendered":"2014 Lynton Colloquium at UMass Boston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On\u00a0Monday, September 15, 2014, the <a href=\"http:\/\/nerche.org\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=featured&amp;Itemid=158\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New England Resource Center for Higher Education<\/a> (NERCHE) will host its\u00a03rd Annual Lynton Colloquium on the Scholarship of Engagement\u00a0at the University of Massachusetts Boston.\u00a0 The event will build upon the success of the 2013 Colloquium, where nearly 150 faculty and higher education administrators from New England (and beyond) gathered to reflect upon the <a href=\"http:\/\/nerche.org\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=42:remembering-ernest-lynton&amp;catid=25:lynton-award&amp;Itemid=101\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pioneering work of Ernest A. Lynton<\/a> and the legacy of his contributions to publicly engaged scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>The 3rd Annual Lynton Colloquium will feature a keynote presentation by the recipient of the 2014 Lynton Award (to be announced in August 2014). It will also help launch a new research initiative co- sponsored by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nerche.org\/\">New England Resource Center for Higher Education<\/a>\u00a0(NERCHE)\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.engageddemocracy.org\/\">Center for Engaged Democracy<\/a>\u00a0(CED). Grounded in the work of NERCHE&#8217;s Next Generation Engagement project and the CED&#8217;s focus on academic programs in civic engagement, this initiative aims to identify key issues in the field and sponsor research working groups on each of them.
