UC Davis and Imagining America: Artists and Scholars In Public Life (IA) have launched a nationwide recruitment for the position of Faculty Director of Imagining America.<\/b>\u00a0The Faculty Director will report directly to the UC Davis Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor, with a secondary, \u201cdotted-line\u201d reporting relationship to the Chair of IA\u2019s National Advisory Board. The Faculty Director will also have a permanent appointment as a tenured member of the UC Davis faculty.<\/span><\/p>\n Imagining America is a national consortium of nearly 100 academic institutions and cultural organizations, dedicated to advancing civic engagement, democratic culture, and equity within higher education through the approaches of the arts, humanities, and design. IA was launched at the University of Michigan in 1999 and has had its home at Syracuse University since 2007. In the summer of 2017, it will move from Syracuse to the University of California, Davis for a renewable, five-year term ending June 30, 2022. IA and UCD are committed to a partnership of mutual benefit, one that advances the shared values of engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion both within the University and across higher education.<\/span><\/p>\n The Faculty Director will be an established or emerging leader in higher education, whose work exemplifies excellence in public scholarship and the value of public scholarship to the future of higher education. The Faculty Director will bring dynamic, visionary, intellectual leadership to the advancing the mission of Imagining America, to building and sustaining the IA consortium, and to supporting UC Davis\u2019 commitment to engaged scholarship and community partnership. The successful candidate will have a record of scholarship, teaching, and service appropriate for appointment as a tenured professor at UC Davis, as well as demonstrated skills in academic leadership and administration. S\/he will have the capacity to build collaborative relationships across higher education, to work with diverse community and academic partners, and to be a voice for IA\u2019s values and mission in higher education nationally. Finally, the successful candidate will share the University\u2019s Principles of Community, which are characterized by respect, integrity, openness and responsiveness, and will advance UC Davis\u2019 and IA\u2019s shared commitments to engagement, diversity, and equity.
