Responsibilities

The International Affairs Program in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) at Northeastern University seeks nominations and applications from leading scholars for an open rank position with an expected start date of Fall 2019. The International Affairs Program, with one of the largest majors in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, supports undergraduate majors, minors, and a Master’s program.

We seek a scholar of urban studies whose interests reach across disciplines, and we are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in urban politics, urban and political geography, urban sociology, urban anthropology and urban ethnography.  Candidates whose research complements those topics as well as those who would enhance faculty diversity, are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have a distinguished scholarly record and demonstrated potential for excellence in leadership.The successful candidate will be cross-appointed in the International Affairs Program and a tenure home within the college appropriate to their field. The position will support the university, college and International Affairs Program’s commitment to producing interdisciplinary scholarship and innovative teaching on contested cities, urban politics and/or urban immigrants across the globe. Areas of strategic focus in the College include resilience, sustainability and digital humanities. Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education.

 

Qualifications

A PhD in a related field required.
