The fellowship centers fellows’ interests while maintaining a connection to the 2026 URBAN Summer Institute.

The 2026 Fellowship will run from January to June, with monthly meetings that include discussions of selected readings and opportunities for participants to workshop their projects.

Applications open on October 2, 2025, and the deadline to apply is November 10, 2025. Candidates may nominate themselves or be nominated by a mentor.

Who is the
URBAN Fellowship for?

The fellowship is geared towards graduate students and early career faculty and will create a space for fellows to workshop their work projects (activist scholar/scholar-activist). This is an interdisciplinary fellowship, and all fields of study are welcomed.

Benefits of being an URBAN Fellow

Fellows will have the opportunity to be mentored by leaders in the URBAN Network and network with emerging scholars in diverse fields of study.
